Grass and Air

Donation protected
I'm Kathleen Bartholomew. I'm a science fiction writer, living in Los Angeles - my sister was the late Kage Baker, also a science fiction writer, and I am continuing the story cycles she started during her ifetime.

I'm also disabled. There's nothing wrong with my brain (aside from being a science fiction writer ... ) but my heart is wonky. It prevents me from walking or gardening much, and I can't take the heat. In the interests of conserving water and not shriveling into a raisin, I'm working on two projects:

1) Change my front garden into xeriscaping,, with rock and drought-resistant plants. And 2) Install a mini ductless split air conditioner in my study, so I can work without being forced to wrinkle up and concentrate my sugars.

To accomplish these goals, I need $1,500.00. The DWP has a rebate program to assist with lawn conversion, but I'm not eligible because they don't like the kind of grass I planted. And LA only offers assistance for enormous A/C units that use dreadful amounts of power: my goals are too small and frugal for them.

All contributions are welcome. I'll have some sort of thank you rewards set up soon, as well. Thank you all for your time, attention and help!
