Our loving father

On September 29, 2023, my father unexpectedly passed away due to a sudden heart attack in Thailand at the age of 54.

My father was born as the youngest son of a family of five siblings on November 12, 1968, in Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea. Growing up with much love and affection, he met my mother in 1987 through a university club at Chungbuk National University, and they got married in 1995, eight years later. In 1997, my father immigrated to Thailand, bringing along my mom and me. In 2002, my younger sister Youjin was born in Thailand.

Since 2000, my father worked diligently as a manager at Dongyang Magnetics for 15 years. Afterward, he ventured into various businesses, eventually becoming a marketing executive at Kamol Roongreung. He continued his hard work at Hansol Technology, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility for our family. For a span of 12 years, my father sent both my sibling and me to international schools, enabling me to pursue my studies in the United States and my sister to attend Yonsei University. Because of my father's dedication and sacrifices, I was able to start off a good career in the United States, and my sister has been able to nurture her dream of becoming a singer while excelling in academic pursuits.

When I was young, every weekend, my father used to come home with hands full of fried chicken, chocolate, and beer. Despite living in different countries, my father always found a way to show us that he loved us. His presence and warmth will be missed dearly.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to those who have reached out and offered support, and ask for your patience as we navigate these difficult times of grief. As we attempt to come to terms with our loss, we humbly request the support and generosity of our community to help us during this difficult time.

My father’s sudden departure has left us unprepared for the overwhelming costs that have arisen and we want to bring him back to Korea to honor his memory in the most dignified manner possible.

Any contribution, no matter how small, would be a tremendous help and would be received with profound gratitude. If you find it in your heart to lend a helping hand, your generosity will not only ease our financial strain but will also provide much-needed comfort during this period of grief.

In addition to financial assistance, your thoughts, prayers, and emotional support are equally invaluable to us as we navigate through this painful journey of loss and healing. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

With love and gratitude,
SooA, Jongwon (Hans), Youjin
