Help a fighter keep fighting....

Her name is Stephanie Foster Carwile, and this is only part of her story. So please read it with an open mind and especially an open heart.

Stephanie is fighting a battle for the third time now. She has had breast cancer twice, and it has now returned. In addition, it has spread to other organs and bones, and she's heard the dreaded words, "stage four."

But she is not deterred in her faith. Her faith in God and her confidence that she will beat this. Because she is a fighter. I have known her for nearly 30 years, and she has always been a fighter. And I know this, because we were once married. My name is Jeff Gandy, and Stephanie gave me one of my greatest gifts; our daughter Kayla. Kayla has a little sister named Addi Grace that Stephanie and her husband Chris brought into this world. Addi is a young, exuberant bundle of joy wrapped up in a cheerleader uniform, and she never fails to make me smile whenever I see her. Chris and Addi Grace and her family are what Stephanie is fighting for. Sadly, she lost Kayla in 2019. So more than ever, she wants to see Addi grow up and have a family of her own. She wants to see all that her nieces and nephews accomplish in their lives. She wants to continue to be in and bless the lives of her friends. And these are not selfish wants. These are good and natural wants.

Cancer not only ravages the body and clouds the mind, but it can also tear apart a carefully built life. Medical expenses rise out of control, and daily costs spiral when a family is reduced to one income. Stephanie is beginning treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, TX, and she is in, literally, the fight of her life. I know that times are uncertain, and everyone is feeling the strain. But if you can find it in your heart to help this family and Stephanie with her fight, then God bless you. And any amount will be graciously accepted and used to offset the unexpected costs of this journey. And if you cannot afford to give, I completely understand. So I ask instead, before you go to sleep tonight, please say a prayer for her and her family.
