Xena who ran wild in the Nevada desert for 1 mnth

Donation protected
Xena, newly named and most fitting for a 1-2 yr old German Shepard / Husky mix, who survived the Nevada (Boulder City) desert for a minimum 26 days. She was first seen by my son the first week of June and capturing her has been his only priority.  Seeing a lost and confused animal in 100+ degree summer desert heat for most of the month was heartbreaking to say the least.

Nevertheless, every morning and evening he waited to see if we could get her in the backyard, or better yet in the trap that was in the desert. Through each misfortuned attempt, the dedication did not waver.  Each evening, fresh buckets of water and hamburger meat were left out.

After watching her evade multiple coyote attacks, avoiding sun and heat exposure, probable rattlesnake encounters... He finally caught her, Sunday night, July 3, 2022.

Stories can be told by many neighbors on Bronco Rd and Chestnut Ln of Xena evading coyote packs of three and four. One even gives details with her rear backed up to a glass wall with four coyotes surrounding her, one approaching to attack while the other three stopped not giving it a clear path to escape. But she did. She did every time any witnesses can account. Maybe we will come to find at the vet today they were able to snip her here or there but ultimately she escaped and will live on to show her strength.

As of now it has been about 36 hours since her capture and she is doing great. Scared as you can imagine. Clear signs of past abuse, but as unfortanate as it is for someone to do what they did to her in the past, her future is as bright as it ever could be.

Any appreciatively raised gifts will be used for immediate vet bills and medicine to start incurring at today's vet appointment, possible spaying, 12-months of pet insurance, and a good food supply. This is a way to help him financially care for Xena in the immediate future under the current circumstances due to him being currently financially responsible for his 15 yr old yellow lab, Drama (pictured under team)

Also, I want to say, it was amazing to see the people that came together during this 4 week period some nights having 5+ people involved in our backyard. I'd like to name some names but will get consent first. But thank you to all who helped.

Updates will be given often. Thank you for reading and God bless.
