Hi, my name is Bridget Denny and I'm trying to help raise money for my son Mitchell and his family. Mitchell was in a serious motorcycle accident on 8/21/24. He was transported to HCMC in Minneapolis. He had a head injury, which resulted in a concussion and a large laceration across his forehead. The scariest injury was that his pelvis was fractured in multiple places, which resulted in internal bleeding. The SICU worked tirelessly to get him stabilized for surgery. Finally, at around 3:00am on 8/22/24, after him receiving 9 units of blood and the bleeding not slowing down, they decided he needed surgery ASAP. He underwent surgery and they placed internal/external rods in his pelvis to stabilize it . After surgery, his bleeding slowed tremendously and he only needed 1 more unit of blood. He is undergoing a second surgery today, 9/4/24, to remove the rods and replace them with internal plates to continue his healing. Mitchell will be doing a rehabilitation program at HCMC for 7-14 days after he is done with surgery. All in all, he's looking at probably a month of inpatient treatment. After he gets home, he will still need assistance and he probably will not be able to go back to work for 3-6 months. Mitchell is the primary bread-winner for his family. He has a partner, Heather, and a 7 year old daughter, Nina. This accident leaves him with zero income to pay the bills. His partner Heather has been off work as well during this time to spend everyday with Mitchell at the hospital, and will be returning to work as soon as she's able. However, Mitchell will need her help at home too. So they are unsure when she will be able to go back full-time. We are so very thankful for the great doctors and trauma unit at HCMC for saving his life.
