Help for erin

Hi I'm liza and I'm raising funds for one of my good friends and her daughter.

Erin is in need of a carer controlled wheel chair and I hope by raising funds on here which we are hoping to get half of the money and the rest from the funday fundraisers we are planning we will get the funds she needs to get her out of her house into the world

Any amount big or small will be greatly appreciated by Erin and her mum.

Here is a bit of back story about erin and the reason we are doing this.

Erin was born 12 weeks early & at 4 weeks old she was discharged from the special care baby unit. Erin's mum voiced several concerns to her paediatrician when she was 9 months old, she wasn't hitting any milestones, her eyes were unfocussed, her legs trembled & she couldn't hold her head up, Erin was failing to thrive. After investigation, it turned out that Erin had been discharged from the neonatal special care unit with severe brain damage & the hospital failed to inform her mother, no care plan had been put in place. Erin was diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy just shy of her 1st birthday. Fast forward to today, Erin is now 13 years old, is non verbal, unable to walk, sit up crawl etc. All of her needs are being met except for 1. She is pretty much house bound as her mother struggles to push her wheelchair as she has her own medical issues, Erin is getting heavy & the wheelchair is also heavy. Erin's mum requested a carer controlled electric wheelchair for Erin when she went for her regular wheelchair service appointment but was denied as electric wheelchairs are only offered IF the patient can control the chair themselves, Erin cannot control an electric wheelchair herself. The only other option was to buy one privately, the wheelchair engineer estimated the cost to be between 5 & 6 thousand pounds as Erin requires full support in the chair.
