Our family is asking for help during an unexpected difficult time.
Last week, my grandmother Pam was leaving work, and was hit by a car while she was in the crosswalk. She’s suffered severe injuries that require extensive medical attention, including a shattered femur, broken hip, and broken knee. She’s had a week-long hospital stay and a nearly six-hour surgery to repair her femur and hip, also including a knee replacement.
While we are incredibly grateful that she is alive and okay, this is only the beginning of a long and painful journey. She now faces several months, if not years, of recovery, including rehabilitation, pain management, follow-up procedures, and ongoing care. She is receiving in-home care and rehabilitation, requiring constant support as she works to regain strength and independence.
The physical toll is immense, but the financial burden is just as overwhelming on her and our family as we navigate her recovery. All costs associated with her care—including medical supplies, medications, in-home care needs, and rehabilitation expenses—are now the responsibility of our family. Her daughter and grandkids have taken over all care for Pam and could use all the help we can get.
The driver who hit her did not have insurance, and an attorney is working on the case. Any potential settlement could take years, and covering urgent medical needs and daily living expenses are all out of our pockets for the time being. Due to the extent of her injuries, it is likely she will not be able to return to work.
My grandma has always been a source of strength, love, and support for our family. Now, she needs that same support from all of us, and from anyone willing to help.
We are raising funds to help cover:
-Medical bills and ongoing treatment
-In-home care and rehabilitation services
-Medical supplies and necessary medications
-Daily living expenses as she recovers
-Any necessary home accommodations for her safety and mobility
Every donation will go directly toward helping her heal and easing the financial strain on our family. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean just as much to us.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly challenging time. It truly means more than we can express.
