I have been raising the issue of plastic in the oceans for over ten years and with current concerns over climate change, I felt the need to bring together the communities in Stockton to look at Climate change. I am raising money to put on an event at the Arc in Stockton on Tees to show to the people who live in Stockton and the surrounding area, the small steps they can take to tackle climate change.
The venue have been very supportive and offered use of their space for free as their contribution and agreed the date of Saturday 2nd of November 2019. With the help of others I am working with, we will bring together individuals and organisations that offer an alternative way of doing things that will reduce our carbon footprint.
There will be stall holders offering various solutions and there will be practitioners who will run workshops on:
Plastic - This workshop will appeal to children as we will make fish from plastic bottles to demonstrate the issue of plastic in the oceans. There will also be advice for parents on reducing plastic use.
Green transport solutions - Electric cars, are they expensive to run? Hear from an experienced user of electric transport & what is 'Active Transport?' Can we use a mix of transport solutions?
Re-wilding my Garden - An experienced practitioner will speak about small changes you can make in your gardens to encourage birds, bees and butterflies and other much needed creatures to your garden. And how you can do your bit to offset the carbon in the atmosphere.
Your voice - A workshop on affectively using your spoken and written word to raise concerns you have about issues relating to the environment.
This is event will run from 10am until 3pm. The funding be will used to pay for practitioners to run the workshops, and for expenses incurred to run them and other aspects of the event such as advertising and buying materials. Our message is simple, 'Just one small change can make a difference', please can you support us.
The funding is needed prior to the 2nd of November 2019. Every contribution large or small is most gratefully received. And will also demonstrate your contribution to taking one small step.
