Charlie's funeral service will be open to the public today 8/17/15 at 5pm Living Word Bible Church in Mesa. Please join us in celebrating Charlie's life. Wear blue if you are able to attend.
At just 1 month old Oscar a.k.a. Charlie Rubio endured an 8 hour surgery to correct his heart conditions. He was born with TAPVC (total anomalous pulmonary venous connection) and ASD (atrial septal defect).
In TAPVC, the veins from the lungs attach to the heart in abnormal positions which causes oxygenated blood to leak into the wrong chamber. During this surgery, Charlie’s pulmonary veins were reconnected to the left atrium and the atrial septal defect was closed.
Charlie’s heart is not strong enough to support life yet and he remains on an ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Little Charlie is fighting his best fight and showing good signs of recovery! We know that with the all your prayers, love, and support he will pull through and be home with his family soon.
Cherie runs a daycare from her home and with Charlie’s condition she will be out of work for at least 3 months. Oscar has just started with the Police force and has limited vacation and sick leave and does not qualify for FMLA just yet.
Please show your support for the Rubio family and donate to help with medical expenses and other costs while their son heals.
The next 72 hours will be critical for Charlie please keep him in your prayers. We will post updates here as they become available.
