I'm not sure where to even start this story and ask for help. At this point, I don't want to share so many details, but it's necessary for people to understand what has been going on. My stepdad was a kind and genuine person. He was always unapologetically himself, silly and a little all over the place, but he had a kind and helpful heart.

He had been struggling with chronic pain for many, many years, and eventually turned to opiates to try to manage. He struggled this past year to get clean and sober and was also grappling with suicidality and a growing mental illness. My mom had resuscitated him multiple times over the past year. At this point, he was considered MICA by medical professionals and discharged without getting the help he needed. He ended up taking his life on March 30th.
