Vicki’s cancer treatment fund
Our mom’s cancer came back. With a vengeance. She has been pretty private about it since she found out, so we are doing this without her permission or knowledge. Let’s make this a surprise gift to show how much she is loved!
The treatment she needs is called Hyperthermia Therapy. Testing has shown that her type of cancer does not respond to chemotherapy or radiation so this is the best option. This therapy takes place nearly every day for 6-8 weeks and is only done in Santa Monica, CA. Even if her insurance will cover the treatment, we estimate that it will cost between $12000 and $15000 to cover her expenses in California and Washington during this time.
She and my dad are planning to sell their house and move to some family property on Anderson Island. Without external support, she plans to delay treatment until all of this is done so she has the money from the sale to fund it. We do not want her to wait. It is important that her treatment start as soon as possible.
We are both looking into ways to reduce the cost by finding less expensive lodging, using saved airline miles, and researching organizations that provide donations or services for cancer patients.
