Jill Summer's Medical Fund

We love our friend, Jill.  She's a loyal wife, a wonderful mother, and in a mighty fight against cancer.  The medical bills are rolling in.  Let's allow her to focus on getting well.  I'll let her explain her story as only she can.

So a couple weeks ago I heard the word...the filthy, nasty, mean word...cancer. It's not what I thought the diagnosis would be. I've had something in my throat for the last 6 months but thought they were just going to tell me I had something stuck in it.  NOT growing in it.

I have a malignant tumor that has consumed my epiglottis. A rare cancer usually found in an older heavy smoker. I do not smoke. I'm considered very healthy. I have no health issues, not on any medications. My physicians are not sure why I have this type of cancer.

I will receive 35 radiation treatments - 5 days a week in Pittsburgh. I cannot do treatments closer to home. On top of this, I will have chemo treatments.

Just trying to wrap my brain around diagnosis, plan of action, rehabilitation. Your prayers and concerns warm my heart.

A song called "Even If" by MercyMe was on the radio and the words in the second verse smacked me around a little. Its says this...

"They say it only takes a little faith to move a mountain.
Good thing - A little faith is all I have right now.
But God, when you choose to leave mountains unmovable.
Give me the strength to be able to sing...It is well with my soul.

I know You're able and I know You can.
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand.
But even if you don't, My hope is You alone."

I pondered these words for days.

As hard as all of this is to "wrap my brain around", my heart is still rooted in the saving power of Jesus Christ and I can say...Even If.

These days are hard to process.  I'm not brave.  I'm not any different than you in how you would handle it.

That's not true, Jill.
You're BRAVE.
You're BEAUTIFUL.
You're a BLESSING TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW.
