Jenns Journey

Most of you know how caring, dedicated, loyal, funny, grounded and all around amazingly beautiful Jenn is.

Some of you may not know the brave journey she is facing.

On February 11, 2016, Jenn was diagnosed with breast cancer which has spread to her lymph nodes. The medical term is invasive ductal carcinoma.

Her treatment plan is chemotherapy, followed by surgery in the summer, followed by the possibility of radiation which will depend on the results of gene testing being done by the BC Cancer Agency.

If Jenn is a carrier of the TP53 gene, it will confirm the hereditary Li-Fraumeni syndrome. The option of radiation will need to be altered as the likelihood of cancer reoccurring in the future, in a different part of her body, is very high. These results are being expedited, and expect to be received mid April. We are praying every day that she does not carry this gene.

Chemotherapy is starting to take its toll on Jenn's body, and possibly taking away Jenn's ability to have children naturally, which led Jenn to put off chemotherapy for a few weeks and undergo fertility treatments. Her egg retrieval was on March 3rd. She started her first round of chemotherapy on March 7th. Treatments are every 2 weeks for a total of 8 treatments.

As you can imagine, this is all very hard to cope with emotionally for Jenn and Blair, without the added financial burden of lost income, fertility treatments, medical and naturopathic costs.
