Hello, my name is Erica Torres, and I’m reaching out with a mother’s heart, asking for compassion and help during the hardest time of our lives.

I am a mother of three beautiful daughters. Our oldest is 27 and lives far away with our precious grandbaby. Our middle daughter is 18 and in her senior year of high school. She’s trying so hard to stay strong for me, but I can see how much she’s struggling inside—I want to get her help before she falls into depression.

Our youngest is our 2-year-old rainbow baby, who is autistic and suffers from epilepsy and seizures. I’ve been fighting every day to keep her with me, but since we became homeless on September 16, 2025, everything has been a battle. I’ve reached out to 211, DCF, and multiple programs for help, but so far, no one has been able to provide us with stable housing.

We’ve had a few guardian angels along the way, and I’m so deeply thankful to each of them. But DCF is now trying to take our baby away from us—not because of neglect or lack of love—but because we don’t currently have a home.

Adding to our struggles, my elderly parents live with us. My mother (67) is partially blind and possibly beginning the first stages of dementia. My father (73) is a colon cancer patient, a heart bypass survivor, and both of my parents are insulin-dependent diabetics.

All we want is a warm place to call home again—a safe, stable place where we can eat dinner together, tuck our little one into her own bed, and begin to rebuild our lives.

Winter is coming, and I’m begging for any help to keep our family together and give our children a safe, loving home.
