Help support Matthew Sullivan and Valerie Muntean

Dearest friends,

My name is Monica Muntean. I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of a very dear friend and future brother in law, Matthew Sullivan. Matthew is engaged to my sister Valerie. Currently they are both living in Kansas while our family tries to offer what support we can from Michigan.

Matthew, along with some of his siblings, has a genetic disease called HHT. It is a genetic mutation of the blood vessels which can cause an array of problems such as AVM’s (arteriovenous malformation), nose bleeds, chronic migraines, small seizures, coughing up blood, and strokes. Matthew is currently in the hospital suffering from some of these symptoms as well as chest pain and low oxygen. In the past 6 months he has had multiple surgeries to fix at least 12 avms in his lungs. Recently, due to these medical issues, he has been unable to work.

This past December, my sister, Valerie, and Matthew became engaged and their wedding date was joyfully set for this September. Since then there has been a series of events leading to many financial expenses including the medical ones already mentioned and the expenses of planning a wedding. Matthew’s mother, Lisa, was diagnosed with cancer and shortly after passed away in March; this was both emotionally and financially draining for Matthew and his siblings. In the recent storm last week, Matthew’s car sustained major damage from a falling tree limb and his apartment was flooded.

With the wedding rapidly approaching in September and the medical expenses piling in I wish to ask you all to join with our families in lending a hand to Matthew and my sister. Let’s shower them with community support and help our family bridge the distance between Michigan and Kansas!
