This campaign is to raise funds to support my best friend's son during a medical crisis.
Just a few weeks after Noah's 14th birthday he was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer that had formed a tumor in his face. The cancer, midline carcinoma with NUT-gene rearrangement, is very aggressive and has limited treatment options. The doctors told Noah and his family that he presented with the best possible scenario, as the cancer had not metastasized. Noah's best chance was surgery to completely remove the tumor. The surgery was successfully completed on February 27 and Noah came through it wonderfully (is nurses called him the perfect patient). However, testing after the surgery indicated that, while the doctors were able to remove the entire tumor, microscopic evidence of the cancer remained on the margins. So additional treatment with chemotherapy and radiation is expected, but this type of cancer doesn't have a set protocol for treatment. Noah and his family expect to know more next week after they follow up with the oncologist on Tuesday.
Noah is so strong and we know he will beat this!
But it is hard to know what the future holds for Noah and his family. There will be many unplanned expenses, travel and missed time at work for his parents, not to mention the medical bills, which are already starting to come in.
I have been best friends with Noah's mom since we were Noah's age. I live across the country and I can't be there to help in person. So I'm raising money to help support my friend, her son, and her family during this challenging time.
