This past weekend my mother (Olivia Castillo) slipped and fell while she was outside. When she fell she heard a loud pop and felt excruciating pain. She was rushed to the hospital and we came to find out she has a Maisonneuve Fracture. This involves the fracture of the proximal fibula associated with an occult injury of the ankle. We took her in for a follow-up appointment yesterday (March 11) and we were told that she was going to need surgery since it most likely wasn't going to heal on its own. They told us she could go into surgery on March 12 or the 26th and that the estimated cost was $19,000. She is currently in a walking boot but due to the pain she does not get up unless she has to go to the bathroom or shower.
