Abbie's moving 700 miles to attend pharmacy school, and she could use some help to get there.
If you've met Abbie, you know her love of giving to others. She's the kind of person who makes brownies or chicken soup from scratch, just to brighten up your day. She'll go beyond babysitting to take a group of kids for a sleepover weekend, without expecting anything more than your thanks. For many of us, she's one of the most unselfish, refreshing people we know.
Abbie has worked hard to get this far. She held down a demanding job at one of El Paso's busiest Walgreens for over 7 years, then advanced to a pharmacy focused on compounding prescriptions. But, she knows that her ability to help patients was limited by her position as a technician, so she pushed herself to attend college full time, excelled in her coursework and got accepted to pharmacy schools across the country.
She chose Texas A&M University - Kingsville to save money as an in-state student at a public school. Now, she needs to move her family across the state so they can get settled before school starts in August. Her financial aid won't come in until after she gets there.
As a single mother of two, Abbie lives simply and frugally to make ends meet. She's saved up and sold off belongings. Still, she worries that her efforts won't be enough to keep her afloat before the semester begins.
Abbie's hope is that she can move her two sons and their belongings to Kingsville in mid-July, so they can get settled before school starts in August.
It's a long way to go, but even the smallest gift can help.
