Hey everyone!
Last Tuesday, May 4th, Margo sustained a neck injury while trying to jump into the car. Since then, she has experienced temporary paralysis, coordination loss, and tremors after sudden motions such as her customary head shaking tic. The neurological damage has caused her to fall down stairs, fall off of my couch, and has resulted in difficulty walking up and down my apartment stairs. She has been to the vet and was referred to an animal hospital due to the severity of her injury. There is a possibility of life-threatening damage with every sudden motion of her neck.
It has been determined that Margo will need an MRI to see if there is brain damage, signs of stoke, etc. She has received blood work and an X-ray in preparation for the MRI. After the MRI, we will need to explore treatment options. The estimate I was given from the animal hospital in Louisville for the cost of the MRI is $2,500 - $3,000. There were no other animal hospitals near Bloomington that would offer neurological care. After her diagnosis, the cost of treatment could be much more. Since paralysis (even temporary) is such a dire issue, we will need to get the MRI taken care of ASAP.
75% of my emergency "rainy day" funds have already gone to her blood work and X-ray. The remaining funds will contribute to the cost of the MRI but I do not have enough for the total cost. Anyone who knows me is aware that Margo is my angel. I love her so much and seeing her in pain is more difficult than I would have ever imagined. She is under constant supervision and we are doing everything we can to keep her safe and comfortable until we can get her in for an MRI (appt pending). Thank you so much to anyone who has read this far. If Margo has ever made you laugh with her snaggletooth or made you smile with her aggressive cuddles and wiggle butt, please consider a small donation. She is the light of my life and I want to be able to give her the best care and treatment possible. Thank you!
With Love (and a bit of drool),
Allison & Margo <3

COST BREAKDOWN:
Primary care vet visit - $47.50
Emergency visit in Louisville including blood work and X-ray - $593
Projected cost for MRI - $2,500 - $3,000
