Our family is asking for help with the funeral and celebration of life expenses to honor Larry Springstead, who lost his battle with cancer on July 25th, 2021.
Larry is undeniably the backbone of the Springstead family and a man anyone would be proud to say they have known. In his 71 years of life Larry has gone by many names, including Daddy, Papa, Bumpa, brother, uncle, grandpa and most recently great-grandpa and people who knew him would describe him as a softy, a pushover, just a simple guy, but that is because he is the most selfless, loving and caring person that they had ever know. The type of man that would give you the shirt off his back with no hesitation.
He was a veteran who served in Vietnam, an Iron worker that retired with Union hall local 29 out of Portland, Oregon, was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and a real cowboy at heart (think John Wayne in True Grit). Most importantly a fantastic father to his children Chris, Jessica, Melissa, and Amber as well as a father figure to countless others he has embraced and cared for over the years.
He is incredibly missed and will always be remembered with great love and adoration.
Final costs are high and the Veterans benefit won't even cover just the simple cremation. We want to be able to give him the sending off he wanted and deserved. We estimate that the minimum expense would be at least $7000 which does not include the celebration of life for the numerous people this man has so positively impacted, or any other unforeseen expenses in settling his affairs.
Anything helps, and all donations made to this fundraiser will go directly to the family and be used to honor this great man.
Thank you,
The Springstead Family.
