Angelina needs a new Kidney

Donation protected
Hello Family, Friends and kind strangers. Let me tell you about my dear lifelong friend turned Sister, Angelina Figueroa. I first met her when we were both 8 years old. My grandma and her Mom were coworkers who became good friends and the 2 of us became practically inseparable so here we are almost 30 years later. Her family is my family and mine is hers. Angelina has a Husband and 3 beautiful kids. During her first pregnancy in 2006 which resulted in premature birth of her son, she was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and has been insulin  dependant for a number of years now. Due to having previous premature birth and Diabetes, her subsequent pregnancies were high risk. Her last and final pregnacy was extreamly high risk which resulted in baby Sonia being born over 3 months early. She was a micro preemie and had numerous complications with her heart, lungs and eyes. She spent the first 7 months of her life in the NICU and required open heart surgury. During those 7 months, Angelina pulled her oldest kids from school and the 3 of them lived near the hospital to be with the baby everyday. She was struggling physically, mentally and emotionally while homeschooling her kids, struggling with her baby being in the hospital, recovering from a traumatic birth and struggling with her general health all while living in a Hotel room at Ronald McDonald house.

After the Baby finally came home, all was good for a few months until Feb 2019 when it was discovered that her kidneys were failing and she was put on dialysis 3 days a week. In that time her body became weaker and more susceptible to infection. She developed a sore on her left foot. It subsided somewhat but would not go away and she ended up being hospitalized for an infection which had spread further and faster than they anticipated. Despite best efforts to get ahead of it, doctors had to amputate her leg from the knee down in July 2019. Her recovery from amputation was a bit of a struggle as the wound and swelling were healing very slowly. Angelina has been using  a wheelchair but is planning on getting refitted soon for a prosthetic leg so she can walk again and fully gain her independence back.

The time has come where she now needs a new Kidney and has been recently been approved to be put on the Donor list! While this is good and exciting news, a living Donor would give the best chances for her body to accept and not reject the organ VS a Kidney from a deceased Donor. If you or anyone you know is willing to get tested to see if there is a match and be a living Donor, that would be the most beautiful and appreciated gift anyone could give! Blood Type is A Negative.

During the course of the last few years the family has suffered financial hardship as her husband has been off from work to help her and assist with the kids at home as they have all not been in school for the last 2 years due to the risk of covid and there are multiple immunosuppressed people in the home. They need assistance with finances to help pay for a desperately needed new washing machine, overdue bills,  offset costs of travel to and from her hospital as it is not close by, and other various but necessary items needed in a family home. Any donations made or consideration of being a living donor is greatly appreciated. Please share her story and spread the word as much as possible! Thank you
