Hi there, My name Is Melinda Stieger and my friend of over twenty years, Dallas Mlakar has just lost everything in the recent flooding of Lismore. I really want to help him get back on his feet as he has suffered many setbacks and loses in his life . I know he would do anything to help me ( or just about anyone else) if I was in trouble.
My sister introduced me to Dallas when they were both working in my Aunties restaurant, he had moved back to Inverell after his mother passed away at 47 years after suffering a life long Heart condition and he wanted to be able to keep an eye on his grand mother Maise Walsh. We quickly became inseperable, almost like brother and sister. In 2004 Maisie passed away from a sudden heart attack and Dallas struggled,he was lost.
But his strength got him through once again. After this loss Dallas's focus was finding someone to fall in love with and spend his life with and he met Yasmin. After 4 years of being together they took the plunge and moved to the Gold coast in 2008. In 2010 after getting on their feet Dallas was diagnosed with cancer which thankfully was operable , he recovered and got on with life. Until September 2011 Dallas was admitted to hospital after becoming ill. After some tests were performed he was told the cancer had returned and it was not operable. He endured an intense chemo regime, all the time Dallas stayed strong even though suffering many complications. Dallas recovered and continued on with life. In January 2019 Dallas and Yasmin moved to Lismore to take on the catering contract at East Lismore Bowling Club. Where they began to build there business with great sucess. Then bang -Two Years of Covid Closures. Finally seeing the end of restrictions Dallas and Yasmin were feeling positive business would pick up But on the 28th of February 2022 the worst flood in History destroyed their rental home and they lost everything that they had worked hard for as well as memories of lost loved ones they can never replace. So if you can spare $$$$$$ to help them get into a new home( if they can find one!) and try to replace some of their furniture we could put a smile back on the face of one of my dearest friends I would be greatful and I know they wouldbe too!
