Arnesha Bowers' Funeral Fund

On Thursday, June 11th, 16-year-old Arnesha Bowers was found dead by Baltimore City police in her grandmother's home.
Her murderers were two (although investigators now believe that three individuals were involved in the crime) gang members who sexually assaulted, strangled, and set her body on fire to cover the evidence of their intrusion. Several local news stations have covered this story, labeling it a tragedy for the community of Northeast Baltimore and for the family of Ms. Bowers. Many others have commented and shared on various social media outlets the horrific account of Arnesha's passing. Today, however, an extension of Arnesha Bowers' family, members of the Queen Anne School community where she attended middle school, are banning together to help raise funds for her burial.
No matter how each of us learned of her passing, we have all been deeply affected by it. In the past few weeks, the homicide rates in Baltimore city have skyrocketed, reflecting numbers that haven't been this high in nearly 20 years. With the highly documented civil unrest going on there it's heartbreaking to see the common casualties that occur in those neighborhoods. This one, unfortunately, really hits home. The people behind this campaign were her classmates, her friends, her teachers, each of us having had the pleasure of knowing Arnesha Bowers and experiencing her light and that ever-present, gleaming smile.
In effort to assist her grandmother with the emotional and financial burden of burying her grandchild, we've created a way for you all to donate whatever you can to the cause. We have reached out to law enforcement and her family and you can trust that every dollar raised will be donated to them.
