OPERATION WELCOME HOME

Donation protected
UPDATED: 12/26/23

Family and friends, we are super close to the final goal for daddy. For those that are not yet aware, Dad completed his final tour of duty on Christmas Day 2023. Now that dad is home with mommy we now face the task of the funeral arrangements that must be orchestrated. Unfortunately daddy didn't make any prior preparations to support his departure. So we are again coming to you, our friends and family and we humbly ask for your consideration in donating what you can as well as sharing dad's beautiful journey with all you know. For those of you who have already donated, thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

With sincere gratitude we thank you for supporting and giving to OPERATION 'WELCOME HOME'.

Our dad Dennis Ainsworth is a 20 year retired veteran of the US Air Force. He was a Highly Decorated Service Connected Staff Sargent who was a Munitions Specialist who also served in the Gulf War Operation Desert Storm/Shield.

In 2021 he was diagnosed
with glioblastoma (brain tumor) in which they were able to remove the aggressive part of the cancer, they gave him less than a year to live. He outlived that prognosis however, his health, vitality and cognitive abilities began to decline. Last week (11/7/23) he became lethargic and somewhat unresponsive so was admitted to St. Johns/PeaceHealth in Bellingham, WA. Upon multiple tests he was found to have an infection in his salivary glands in his mouth, MRSA and pancreatic cancer that has traveled to his liver.

My sister and I are his only close family and both of us live out of state in FL and TX but flew out last minute to be with him.

He is not ambulatory, unable to walk/sit up on his own, which is why we are trying to get him closer to us. We have made the decision to not pursue any type of treatments for his cancer. We collectively felt that this would also be his decision.

However, being that he is terminal and under the Military Creed being "Never to leave an Airman behind", we are hoping to get him closer to us ASAP in FL so that he will be able to live out his last days with his family as well as give him a Full Honors Funeral in Cape Canaveral.

Of course all of this happened suddenly and unplanned so my sister and I had to take off work and make arrangements with our families which has disrupted all of us financially altogether.

The money we are raising would help to cover the costs of transporting him to FL, as well the required money that we have to front personally for his funeral arrangements. This would also help offset some of our needs in terms of hotel stays, food, airfare for our family.

We ask that you prayerfully consider donating and anything helps!!
