I never knew how truly difficult this would prove to be. I have found many ways and many reasons to talk myself out of this; some of it embarrassment, probably pride, and a great deal of the feeling of the insignificance of my problems as compared to many others. But it comes down to no other way and safety.

I own a vehicle that will be thirty years old in March, I keep it for many reasons. Some of it is the pride in the fact that when I purchased it in 1996 it cost more than the house in which I grew up but I was a able to afford the car payments. “He” is in need of some maintenance and with winter here it has become urgent. I have been trying for some months to save the expected money but haven’t been able, other things have taken priority.

Right now I am in the process of talking myself out of this; the thought keeps intruding that at this stage in my life I should be capable of taking care of myself.
