I am creating this page on behalf of my dear friend who has become family.   

Teya is a single mom raising her two boys, Xavier (16) and Zachery (14).   Last month Xavier had a cough and complained of difficulty breathing as well as a backache.  He was taken to urgent care and eventually transported to Westchester Medical Center/Maria Farerri Childrens Unit where they discovered fluid around his lung and a 10cm mass in his chest.   After further testing, Xavier was diagnosed with T-Cell Leukemia.  He was admitted that same day and has since started chemotherapy.   Xavier has been strong and positive during this difficult time.  He’s been getting a great amount of support from friends, family, track teammates and school, which provided him TEAMS access daily for schoolwork.   

Teya has been living at the hospital with Xavier and unable to work.  Her current leave balance, including FMLA, will soon be exhausted and Xavier’s road to recovery will be long and arduous.  Teya doesn’t know when she can return to work full time since Xavier’s many follow-up appointments and out-patient treatments will require her constant attention post-discharge and her other son Zachery has special needs and is non-verbal.  Xavier’s fight is gonna take all they’ve got and then some.  That’s where we come in.  As they wage their battle, let’s provide the love and financial support they need to win this war.  This beautiful family deserves anything and everything you can give.  Thank you so very much.
