Xavier Service dog training

Donation protected
In 2014 our son, Xavier, was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Pitt Hopkins Syndrome. Pitt Hopkins Syndrome (PTHS) is characterized by a life-long struggle with intellectual disability, developmental delays, breathing problems, recurrent seizures, fine and large motor delays, and low muscle tone. Because this is such a rare condition it is hard to know what each day will be like for Xavier. Right now he is non-verbal and unable to tell us what he wants or when/where he hurts. His low muscle tone causes an unsteady gait creating a need for him to use a wheelchair at times. These are just some of the many struggles Xavier faces each and every day. We don’t know what the future holds for our little Xman or what issues may arise moving forward, but we are working to give him the best and most normal life possible. That being said, we have decided to get a puppy and would like to ensure she receives the best training there is so she can become Xavier’s own personal service animal. Following a great deal of research we are discovering how expensive these training programs are. We are asking for donations that will go directly toward this special, individualized training. Not only do we want Xavier to have a companion to grow up by his side, we are also hopeful that, with proper training, she will help him be a little more steady on his feet and also alert us when something is wrong so we can take immediate action.  Please consider helping us make this dream a reality and thank you for taking the time to read our story.
