Xavier Mateo Memorial Fund

      On February 2, 2017, my nephew Xavier Mateo was born to Gladys and Javier Vasquez.  Bringing a child into the world is one of life's greatest treasures, and the birth of Mateo was no exception. The entire family eagerly awaited his arrival and his sisters were counting down the days.  It was beautiful to see Mateo's older sister talk about the birth of her new baby brother. It was beautiful yet heartbreaking because she did not understand what was ahead.
    The doctors discovered late in the pregnancy that Mateo was to be born without a fully developed pair of lungs.  Mateo had a hernia that allowed his liver to grow in his chest cavity, not allowing enough room for his lungs to properly develop.  Gladys spent the last ten weeks of her pregnancy going from specialist to specialist several times a week. 
   Mateo left to be with the Lord just 24 hours after arriving. Despite everyone’s best efforts there was nothing that could have helped him overcome his medical condition.  It breaks our hearts that we will never see Mateo grow or laugh, but we are grateful to have held and kissed him.
     We have set up this GoFundMe account for the Ramirez Vasquez family per the request of many friends and family members.  Any donations will go towards burial costs and medical expenses. Please help give Gladys and Javier the ability to grieve without having to worry about Mateo's medical bills.
