Xavier Henderson

Xavier is the son of Clarence Henderson, a single father who has dedicated his life to raising, educating, supporting, and caring for his son.  As a single father of a child with autism, it has been a challenge for Clarence to balance the demands of full time employment with the needs of his son, but Clarence has been able to do that with grit and determination.  He has been a constant and consistent presence at Waterchase Golf Club for the last 17 years while also being a constant and consistent caregiver to his son.  When Xavier was diagnosed with autism at an early age, Clarence decided that he would do everything in his power to help Xavier succeed to whatever level was possible.  Clarence spent countless hours at Xavier's schools, volunteering and making sure Xavier kept up with his studies, and even introducing additional studies for Xavier to do when not at school.  Xavier was originally diagnosed as non-verbal, and that he would most likely never speak, but through hard work and perseverance, Xavier speaks and giggles just like all teenagers.  He loves school, and NASCAR, and managing the house while Dad is at work.  We couldn't be prouder of the hard work that Clarence and Xavier have put in to get him to where he is today. 

Which is where our request for help enters the story.  About a year ago, Xavier was diagnosed with scoliosis.  As he has gone through some growth spurts, his scoliosis has gotten worse, and his spine's curvature has become more severe and it has twisted making the surgery not only necessary but possibly life-saving, as the twisting has put his heart and lungs at risk.  Xavier is scheduled for surgery on September 15th at Cook's Children Hospital.  The surgery will be arduous, and the recovery even tougher.  We are seeking to raise funds for Clarence and Xavier to defray the significant costs that are sure to come and help as Clarence will be away from work as Xavier rehabs and recovers.
