Hello,
My name is Xarianna Harris and on December 13, 2021 I was sitting outside with my friends and a car came by speeding, jumped the curb and hit me. On that day my life changed tremendously. I just knew my life was over, they didn't expect for me to make it but the GOD I serve had a better plan for me! I was rushed to the hospital where I had 4 major surgeries with a Spinal surgery being one of them. Weeks later when the tubes were removed from my throat, the first words I mumbled were "Can I walk" because I couldn't feel my legs, but didn't truly understand what was going on. The doctors tried to go around the question, but I had to know, I wanted to know if I would still be able to do one of the things I really loved doing "Dance". So finally they told me no. When I heard those words I wanted to give up, I asked God "why me?" Why keep me here alive like this, "I'm only 15, why Lord!!" My family stood by my side and told me everything will be OK. Yes, it was easy for them to say, but I'm the one who can't walk or feel from the waist down. I prayed and prayed and prayed and talked to God. It was in those moments that I heard those words, those words that gave me motivation and strength "I will carry you and be with you EVERY step of the way" God's words!!
So after 3 long months in the hospital, I was motivated and knew I had a purpose here on Earth. I was happy to still be ALIVE! Everyday I was getting a little bit stronger. Yes I left the hospital in a wheelchair and a year later I'm still in a wheelchair, but I am so much stronger than I was several months ago. I take physical therapy 3 times a week and I have come a long way. My mom has put her life on hold for me to take care of me 24/7. I do feel bad for her, but at the same time I am thankful for her and enjoy our time together. I have great support from my family and am thankful for my grandma who helps my mom take care of me.
One of the biggest struggles for me is the wheelchair that I was provided with. We all know that is my mobility right now, so it has to be reliable and stable. With the wheelchair that I'm in now, I'm limited to what I can do. Such as going into certain rooms at places including a lot of restrooms, due to it being so bulky. Also it falls apart every month and it's not supportive of my back, it causes me to have back pains. I was told by my insurance company that I would have to stay in this wheelchair for 6-7 years before getting another one. I really don't see how that's possible. I just joined a track team for children with disabilities and I'm so excited to be a part of their family. After going to practice and seeing other children that look like me it made me feel so happy and normal again. I noticed that the other teens were getting around a lot faster and easier than I was, so I realized they had smaller wheelchairs and they were talking about how comfy they were and how much easier it is to get around. I knew right away this is what I needed to make my life so much easier. After my mom talking to the other parents and me doing research I found a company that makes the "box wheelchairs."
Right now my parents can't afford the box wheelchair and I am asking if God put it on your heart to Bless me, could you donate towards the cost of my chair?
This would be a true Blessing to me.
This is "MY STORY" and thank you so much in Advance for your contribution!
May God Bless You! Please continue to pray for me.
