My name is Xander and I originally moved to the Pasadena/Altadena area back in 2019 just before COVID hit, so my luck here has not been great with a pandemic and now this. Nonetheless, my family and I had enjoyed our time here and truly tried to make our place a home. Our home was on Roosevelt street and was a perfect place for us after moving from Phoenix. We didnt realized the extreme risk at first that was possible with our place so close to the forests and hills until the insurance companies began charging exorbitant rates.

Now, seeing it along with our neighbors’ homes in rubbles is devastating. Everything is gone, all our valuables, clothes, everything. We wish we could have insurance to fall back on too, but like others in our area, our coverage for disasters and fires was cut and reduced back in spring last year.

I know there’s countless other families on here who’ve also lost everything, and my heart goes out to them as well, but our family really needs help as well. We have no friends or family here in LA so we’re staying at a temporary shelter atm. The money we raise will go towards getting into more stable housing for the next few months and to start the rebuilding process as soon as the fires are contained and stop the damages. It will of course also help us with our increased expenses now with food and cooking being tough, paying for gas traveling around more without our home, and costs for our Beagle. It will also go towards some of our own medical costs.
