It still doesn't feel real man. I wake sometimes expecting a missed call or text because you had to get something off your mind. Slowly coming to the realization that I'll no longer be seeing you in the physical. See, through all the ups and downs in life you were someone I could always count on to have my back whether it be a well Taylored word, an in-depth analysis of a situation, or just pushing me to be the best version of myself. I still have mixed feelings on everything that happened. I still haven't found complete closure or answers but, one thing that brought calm was seeing your son, your 2.0, running around full of energy and life- like you, moving with vigor- just like you. Looking just like you.
At the funeral, it was amazing to see the outpouring of love and how many other peoples lives you touched in such a short period of time. In particular, the amount of young black men that got up and spoke was cool as hell. I commend you man. I started to understand even better why you lived life with the passion and urgency you experienced it at. Always planting the foundation for strong bonds, friendships, love and support wherever you found yourself. You touched lives in a remarkable way, evidenced by the love and support pouring back into you and your legacy. Kendall, know your son Xander has all the love and support.
To summarize the words of your childhood friend, Nigel (good dude by the way), Xander is in great hands because he has so many uncles to grab hold to. So many pieces of his father's spirit still here, in each of us, to connect the puzzle of who his pops was; and of himself by proxy when the time demands. We got you fam. This go fund me for Xander is only a piece of what we decided to give in love and service.
So. to all who had love for Kendall Evin. We extend an opportunity to all friends/ family: (childhood friends, high school family, Howard U, Band, blood relatives, supporters and others who loved him so much) an outlet to pour love and honor into his son's immediate caretakers. Love always. For Xander.
