Help Xander get through back surgery!

Hello, my name is Elias Walker and I am raising funds on behalf of one of my best friends and favorite people, Xander Teuscher!

He truly is an amazing person who is a beacon of the community, and I firmly believe he deserves the help and the supports so he can start to live a happier pain free lifestyle.

Here is something his amazing and supportive wife has written!

Hello everybody, my husband, Alexander Teuscher has been dealing with chronic back pain for more than a decade, and in the past 2 years the pain has gotten much more severe and unbearable. He has a genetic disease called Scheuermann thoracic Kyphosis, and it has been causing him debilitating pain and has been deteriorating his health.

At first, we didn’t even know what exactly was wrong with his back, the doctors would say it was just scoliosis and that he was going to have to learn to live with the pain, we couldn’t just accept that answer every time and we didn’t stop looking for options.

He tried going to PT, chiropractic, Schroth therapy, regular exercise, cupping, acupuncture, dry needling, and anything you could think of but at most, he would find relief just for some minutes and his life quality just kept deteriorating.

We got to the point he wouldn’t be able to sleep at all at night, and he would be just stretching and twisting trying to find any comfort, in the bed, the floor, the couch, the table, at this point we would try ANYTHING. If at work he would sneak to the bathroom to stretch because he doesn’t like people to see how bad his pain is.

Mentally, it is really difficult to process pain and to be able to continue with the upkeep of life, so dealing with depression has been a part of this hard fought journey.

I couldn’t just let him be in so much pain and not do something about it, so I did a little research online and found a FB group from the Spine Health Foundation and they provided me with a list of the best spine specialists.

I found one close to us in Denver and I made an appointment immediately.

This Dr. finally had answers for us, gave us so much confidence and explained to us what Alex has and that the only option at this time if his quality of life is so bad would be surgery. Besides the Scheuermann Kyphosis, he also has scoliosis on his neck and multidirectional instability on his shoulders that will also need to be addressed through surgery.

I keep thinking 1 step at a time and we will get him there, so we are going to start with the T3-L2 Posterior Spinal Fusion, this Feb 28th. This surgery is not only delicate and expensive but will take us out of work for a while and he will need medicine, follow up appointments and PT for after the surgery.

The total recovery time is approximately 8 months, so we are now organizing this to ask for some help.

Any help will be really appreciated. We find it very hard having to ask for assistance, but I’m talking about relief for the person I love the most and i would do anything in my power to relieve my husbands pain.

That being said, we are asking upon the community for help to fund Xanders medical expenses and time off of work, as he will be bed ridden for a long period and not fully able until at least 8 months.

No one deserves to live with as much pain as Xander has been feeling, and he would never ask this for himself, which is why I have taken it upon myself to help with this process.

His wife has enough on her plate and i feel very compassionate about helping him find relief.
