Help Pay for my MS Treatment

Hi, My name is Rachel Moseley (pictured in the middle) and I was diagnosed in November 2021 with Multiple Sclerosis at only 21 years old, only several months after this photo was taken.

I don't enjoy asking others for money, but after being denied over 3 times by my insurance company and given the runaround for several months, this is my last option.

I am pursuing symptomatic treatment called a Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS). SCS is a pain treatment mainly for those with back problems, but it has been proven effective in people with diabetic neuropathy, MS neuropathy in people such as myself, and countless other pain syndromes.

I am raising money for the trial stimulator so I can gauge what works and what doesn't work for my pain.

Background

I presented in the hospital in August 2021 with leg weakness, tingling in my hands/feet with numbness, and painful paresthesias in my chest, face, and intermittently my legs and arms as well. This isn't my complete list of symptoms because listing them all would become a novel.

I was due to start my fourth year at The Ohio State University, but I was forced to take medical leave.

In December of 2021 I was put on an MS drug called Tysabri. While effective at reducing lesions in the brain and spinal cord, it, unfortunately, does not have the power to reverse damage already done.

Many of my symptoms have gone, but the painful indescribable paresthesias remain my current problem. I'm at a constant 5-6/10 on the pain scale with no relief. I've nearly maxed out of gabapentin and carbamazepine (used off-label to treat nerve pain). SCS is my last hope for pain relief.

About Me

I'm pursuing a degree in Anthropology at OSU with a minor in studio art. I'm a lifelong percussionist and I participate in the OSU Athletic Band as a bass and snare drummer (when I can).

In my free time I enjoy drawing, painting, playing video games with friends and binge watching TV shows with my roommate and best friend.
