This page is dedicated to building an emergency fund for Bristol Link with Beira to be able to respond quickly to any emergency or disaster in Beira, through our partners in Beira, ADEL Sofala, who can quickly assess the needs of the people of Beira after such an event. Every donation will help. You can also make recurring payments via this page, by signing in to GoFundMe, as explained here https://charitysupport.gofundme.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035317431-Recurring-donations If applicable, Gift Aid is automatically applied to individual and recurring donations.
Bristol Link with Beira (BLB) https://bristolbeiralink.org/ is the main activity of the charity Southern Africa Resources Centre. As part of a 30-year-old city-to-city friendship link, we promote people-to-people networks between the cities of Bristol in UK, and Beira in Mozambique, Southern Africa, to empower and benefit local communities. Mozambique is considered by the UN as one of the Least Developed countries, with the 10th lowest human development index, in extreme poverty, with over 50% of the population living on less than £1.40 per day. Beira is a port city vulnerable to extreme weather events (most notably Cyclone Idai in 2019), with a population size of 600,000, similar to Bristol. BLB works in Education & Health, Community & Civil Society, and Climate Change & Energy. BLB is targeting SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals. BLB has established relationships with a variety of stakeholders, in particular partnerships with Beira Municipal Council (CMB), and Sofala Local Economic Development Agency (ADEL) http://www.adelsofala.org.mz/ a local NGO in Beira.
