Luna's Medical Fund

My name is Erika Adriana De la Fuente and I am trying to raise money for my Doberman Pinshcer, Luna. I have had her since she was 6 weeks old and from there she has been the only constant in my life for the last 7 years in an ever changing world. She did the move with me to Houston, Texas. She was trained as a service dog for arthritis to help my mom as well as a search and rescue animal. Unfortunately she was never officially used because she had a stroke in 2013 and retired. She was with me when my husband joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in Hawaii and made the trip out here as well. Recently, she started having some paresis in her front left leg and dragging it. Due to lack of neurology department here on Oahu and the higher cost of everything, we flew her back to Houston where she had an MRI done at Gulf Coast Neurology and was diagnosed with a C3-4 intraparenchymal lesion and suspected neoplasia. The mass in her spinal cord is causing compression and without treatment will only get worse as the right side is compressed as well until she can no longer walk. The neurologist told me she needs Radiation. Unfortunately my husband and I have spent what we could on the MRI and diagnostics. To many she may just be a dog but to my family she is a member. To me she is more. She is my rock and my stability when everything around is constantly changing. She makes me be a better person and reminds me I have a responsibility. There will never be another Luna. I am moving back to Houston where she will hopefully receive treatment at Gulf Coast Oncology if I can get the funds. The sooner she gets it the better. It would mean the world to me to not have to say goodbye to her so soon and would be forever grateful. I feel I owe her this much to try all I can before giving up on her.
