Help save Fred

My name is Meg and am a close friend to Bella, the doting mom to our lovable dachshund Frederic (aka Fred), who is just 5 years old. It came as heartbreaking news that on the morning of October 18th our Freddy boy was unable to stand up or move his hind legs, and was taken to his vet shortly after. Following a series of X-rays and some physical tests, Bella was advised that Fred has a severe case of Intervertebral Disk Disease (IVDD) and was given 2 options: 

1. Emergency surgery at a veterinary neurology specialist in Ottawa. 

2. Euthanasia. 

The surgery will aim to decompress Fred’s spine by removing the herniated disc material. As the surgery must be performed by a veterinary specialist, it comes at the costly amount of approximately $12,000. No emergency clinic in the GTA was available or willing to perform the surgery due to Fred’s condition. Bella and her partner Ouweis are currently on their way to Ottawa as we speak in order to have Fred at the vet clinic by Wednesday morning for his surgery. 

To imagine our lives without this excitable, cuddly, and charming boy is absolutely heartbreaking and we are asking friends, family, and kind strangers who are financially able to donate what they can so he can live out his remaining years in comfort.
