On Sunday July 7th our Mother (Sandy Jaro) was having extreme cramping pains in her abdomen. When the pain did not pass and she began experiencing some bleeding she went to the emergency room. She was admitted into Dickson ER on Monday July 8th; after running some basic tests the ER diagnosed her with ischemic bowel and had her transported via ambulance to a trauma center for surgery and testing. While waiting for the procedure on Wednesday July 10th around 5:00am she went into respiratory and cardiac arrest, and lifesaving procedures including CPR had to be performed. Thankfully with the quick response from the nursing staff they were able to kick start her heart and breathing, but she required a ventilator and severe monitoring. Eventually we met with the surgeon and he explained that we needed to act fast as her condition was diminishing (we must do exploratory surgery)! They found 1.5 liters of blood in the abdomen, but no other significant issues. They were unable to locate where the blood came from. After running several other tests while on life support they found a number of problems such as (blood clots in her lungs, several mini strokes to right and left side of brain). They suspected sepsis and dehydration were the reasons for her issues, but there were about 25 different things going on all at once! Her kidneys and liver were failing and her blood pressure was not stable. She spent about two and a half week in ICU and 5 days on a different floor. As her body finally began to respond and heal she was transferred to a Rehabilitation hospital for further treatment.
Unfortunately, the emergency room was considered out of network under her insurance and therefore has sent bills totaling over $20K. This is a huge hardship on our parents. So although we really just want healing and prayers for her recovery, we also ask that you consider a donation to help our parents who are currently living on a very fixed income.
Again, we are SO THANKFUL she is still with us today, but she has a long and slow recovery ahead of her. We are reaching out to friends and family to help with hospital bills and ongoing treatment from this tragic event. Please if you can find it in your hearts to pledge any donations we would forever be grateful!! Before she left the hospital the Doctors told her that she was a miracle! They have never seen someone survive such an ordeal having been faced with so many issues and complications occurring simultaneously!!
