Defend my property rights and fight HOA overreach

My name is Chinedu, and I am a Georgia homeowner fighting a costly and unjust battle with my HOA.
Years ago, my HOA board approved my plan to install low-profile solar panels on the back of my roof. These panels are not visible from the street, and with no neighbors behind me, they affect no one’s view. I completed the installation this year based on that approval.
But now, a new HOA board has decided not to honor the approval, claiming they can do so because the project was not completed within 180 days. Now they are demanding I tear down my solar panels—even though they were previously approved. They claim “board discretion” gives them the power to override past decisions. That means they can simply choose not to like you and deny your home modification request.
Their demands come with a crushing financial burden:
Over $15,000 to remove the panels
Daily fines piling up against me
Threats to make me pay their legal bills on top of my own
How I Tried to Resolve This
I’ve acted in good faith every step of the way. I offered to negotiate, requested a variance, and even suggested mediation. The board flatly refused.
The previous board did things the right way:
They surveyed the community ( more than 70% voted in favor of solar panels)
They studied solar design impacts.
They coordinated with the power company.
They followed all proper procedures.
This new board ignored all that. They simply declared a “no solar” policy, even though no such ban existed in our bylaws or design guidelines.
Why This Fight Matters
This case is bigger than my roof. It’s about the rights of all Georgia homeowners. I will work with legislators to protect Georgia.
Freedom & Property Rights – No homeowner should be forced to rip out improvements that harm no one and don't diminish property value.
Consistency & Fairness – What one board approves, another shouldn’t reverse at will.
Stopping HOA Overreach – If they can trample my rights today, they can trample anyone’s tomorrow.
How You Can Help
I have a real chance to win this fight, but I can’t do it alone.
Your donation will go toward:
Covering legal fees
Lobbying Georgia state representatives
Pushing back against their demand that I pay their attorneys
This is about more than one homeowner; it's about protecting freedom, fairness, and property rights for all Georgians.
Please donate and share this campaign. Together, we can send a message that HOA boards don’t get to make up the rules as they go along.
Thank you for standing with me.
