Rusty was injured December 3rd from falling off a ten foot ladder. He was preparing for the sale of our home. He fell, with a compound fracture to the left foot just above the ankle. He was airlifted to Cox South in Springfield where he underwent emergency surgery to clean the wound and place an Ex-Fix on the leg. This stabilizes the leg. Last week his surgeon flew in two other surgeons to help him design this contraption pictured.
Today, 12/20 we are in Springfield to have this contraption placed. The surgeon said surgery went well. However this will need to remain in place anywhere from three to six months. He can't put any weight on it at all. They are hoping the wound from the compound fracture heels. If not then we are facing amputation.
We will be going back and forth from Mountain Home to Springfield numerous times, sometimes having to stay over night. I can say there is a hotel attached to the hospital that's a huge life saver! Once I get here I never have to go outside, just use the skywalk to go back and forth! That's a huge help.

Rusty's recovery time to return to work is about one year if all goes well. With insurance deductibles, moving, going back forth to Springfield and him being off work for a year it's going to be a huge challenge.
If you would like to send him a card or letter, you can mail it to
