Paul Moore Memorial Bench

Donation protected
Paul Moore was an English Language Arts teacher at Kerman High School who recently retired and was admired by students and faculty alike. Paul loved his students, and often his current and past students would reach out for advice and guidance.

Paul was an avid cyclist, and his many cycling feats included riding across the country twice, touring Great Britain by bike and conquering grueling rides, including the Climb to Kaiser, The Markleeville Death Ride and the Race Across America (RAAM). Paul even turned his love of fixing bicycles into a second job at REI. He was never one to turn away a friend or stranger when it came to bike repairs.

Paul was a gifted writer storyteller and had a great sense of humor. He recently wrote a story of his encounter with a gentleman named Bill during a walk with his dog Maggie on the Sugar Pine Trail. Over the last few months, Paul continued to document his meetings with Bill and the story behind the Memorial Bench. Paul"s Facebook friends were eagerly waiting for the next installment.

After Paul's tragic death, his family and friends thought that a memorial bench honoring Paul's life would be fitting. The memorial bench will be a place for his family and friends to remember him and maybe have a conversation with a stranger.

Paul's quote in his final installment was: "ENJOY EVERY CONVERSATION WITH STRANGERS. THEY ARE NOT REALLY STRANGERS AFTER ALL."

Actual bench project costs have not been determined at this time. Excess donations will go to the family for a possible bike repair station or bike rack if funds allow.
