David Eagleston, a loving husband and father of 6 children was recently involved in a terrible car accident which nearly took his life. While traveling on the freeway, David was side swiped, causing his vehicle to spin 180 degrees and collide head on with oncoming traffic.
Crushed in the vehicle, David became aware of the severity of his injuries and had the momentary wherewithal to make what in his mind was a final call to his wife. David was able to explain to his wife the nature of his accident and just how serious it was. He was convinced that this was the end for him, and so he told his wife how he loved her and pleaded for her to tell his children how much he loved them. In what seemed to be the very moment of death, David thought only of his beloved family.
Miraculously, this phone call was not Davids last communication with his family. David did not die at the scene of the wreck, nor did he die as he endured  surgeries to repair broken bones and life threatening internal injuries.
Bed ridden and unable to walk, David has spent 3 solid weeks in the hospital splitting his time between the OR and the ICU. His life has been a whirl wind of surgery, pain and medication.
David has recently been discharged from the hospital (6/15/2015) due to insurance limitations, despite the fact that he requires further hospital care including months of physical therapy and rehabilitation.
All that know the Eaglestons are thrilled that David has survived this ordeal, none more so than his immediate family. And yet the difficult reality of David's situation is now setting in as the hospital bills begin to roll in and David yet faces months of costly rehabilitation as he learns to walk again.
Perhaps the worst of David's injuries is his broken pelvis, which has left him completely incapable of walking, let alone working. It may be months, before David will walk normally again, and it may be a very long time before he can return to work. Without knowing the specifics of the Eagleston's finances, it is safe to say that this will be a tremendous burden for them, as it would be for most of us.
Imagine for a moment if this tragedy befell you. Though most of us have health insurance, the grim reality is that when all is said and done, insurance usually only covers a small portion of the overall cost. What makes this type of situation particularly devastating however, is not just the burden of medical bills, but the immediate and complete loss of income.
I would like to emphasize that the Eaglestons, while now aware of this campaign, were in no way involved in its inception.
I ask all who have been blessed with bounty in this life to please consider donating on the Eagleston ' s behalf as they face the challenges of their new future.
The power of modern communication combined with brotherly love--even that greatest gift of all, charity--can change one family's moment of great burden to one of triumph and hope. Please join with us today in standing by those that suffer and lifting those that have fallen by helping to bring a measure of relief to the Eagleston family.
