Help the Hamburgers

On June 27th the Hamburgers lives changed as they knew it. Their normal every day routine would be altered into a daily struggle to understand why their precious daughter Lucy has to go through such pain and suffering.
While on vacation in Maine last week, Lucy suffered a hot water burn. She was admitted to Shriners Hospital in Boston on Thursday June 28th were she will remain over the next 3-4 weeks while she recovers from 2nd and 3rd degree burns on 28% of her body. Lucy is schedule for surgery this Friday where they will be doing a skin graft on her feet. Along with the burns, Lucy is dealing with a feeding tube to be able to sustain nutrition that is vital in her healing process.
While this is directly affecting Lucy physically and emotionally, it is also affecting the family financially and emotionally. Dave and Elisha (Lucy's parents) have both taken a leave of absence from their work so they can remain by Lucy's side while she recovers (a very long road ahead). They would like to keep things as normal for sister Macy and stay together as much as possible as a family. Right now Elisha and Dave are trading off nights staying with Lucy.
The goal of this page is to help alleviate some of the daily cost that this family will endure over the next few months. Gas, tolls, meals, and all the basic essentials that we take for granted each day.
We don't understand why things happen but we have to believe that through something so tragic good can come from it. I know that we live in an amazing community with wonderful families that want to help. This is a great opportunity to come together and show the Hamburgers our support along with all our prayers.
For privacy reasons they prefer not to go into detail concerning what happened. They are trying to make sense of this awful tragedy and are overwhelmed right now so we are asking you respect their wishes.
