Update
May 2nd 2026

Since my last update, David had surgery in December 2025, partial nephrectomy. Biopsy shows rhapboid cells ,.highly aggressive grade 4.

He started treatment in January.
1st week in March, we found out the cancer had returned and spread !!

April 14th -
Removed remaining portion of kidney, renal vein, 5" x5" of liver , lymph nodes, and lesions on the fat of the abdominal area. Biopsy showed again, nuclear grade 4, very aggressive. He is now grade 4, stage 4 ccrcc. He is recovering from surgery. He will restart treatment in May, as long as the remaing kidney and portion of the liver return to normal. As of right now the kidney is at low function.

Please keep us in your prayers. WE haven't worked in 8 months , he did get ssi, but it is 1/2 of our weekly pay per month ! Yes . 1/2 of what we made a week Is what we get a month. I can't leave him right now, he's not stable. He also has a mass on his pituitary gland.

Thanks so much for all the love ❤️

UPDATE from below !
On December 3, 2025, David underwent a partial nephrectomy of his right kidney. The biopsy results were devastating.

David was diagnosed with clear-cell renal cell carcinoma with rhabdoid transformation, nuclear grade 4. This is a very aggressive and fast-growing form of kidney cancer with a high risk of spreading and recurrence.

Additional findings include:

Lymphovascular invasion, meaning cancer cells were found in small blood or lymph vessels

Cancer present at the kidney margin, which means it has extended beyond the main tumor

Matching cancer cells found in a previous bladder wash, suggesting the disease may already be moving beyond the kidney

Because of this, systemic (synthetic) cancer treatments are now required, and further testing is still needed to determine how far the cancer has spread.

While we do have health insurance, we’ve learned that our insurance is not covering David’s cancer treatments at all. Emory has graciously agreed to cover only half of the treatment costs, leaving us responsible for the rest—along with basic living expenses while David is unable to work.

This has been overwhelming in every possible way.

If you feel it in your heart to support David’s treatment and our basic living expenses, we would be endlessly grateful. Every donation, share, and prayer truly means more than we can ever express.

Thank you for standing with us during the hardest fight of our lives.

David had a HUGE heart attack on the job site at Lake Oconee.
We had arrived at the site, and David looked a little off as he was unloading all the materials and setting things up for us to start. I would ask him every few minutes if he was okay, and he would say yes, but he felt like he really needed to burp. As time passed, I would say 30-45 minutes, he was complaining of terrible chest pain, broke out in a sweat, and was cold as ice. I remembered there was a St. Mary's 15 minutes down the road, so I got him in the car and flew out of there!!
We made it to the hospital, where David was having a heart attack!!! He was transferred to St. Mary's Athens, where he went straight to the cardiac center and back for an emergency cardiac cath, where he had a stent placed.
He remained in ICU for a few days and then was released to go home, to rest and do NOTHING!! If you all know David, nothing is a joke. Well, God showed him very fast that NOTHING is what he would be doing!

David and I work together and are self-employed. Keep in mind, I only help David; I have no idea how to do construction or build a fireplace. I was only there to help him with small tasks.
David will be out of work for 6 more weeks to 3 more months. David's visit at Emory on 9/24/25 came as a complete shock to both of us. David has many issues with his heart. He has heart disease and heart damage from the HUGE heart attack (2 cardiologists' exact words). He has 2 valves that have regurgitation and could lead to heart failure. The EKG from 9/24/25 came back abnormal, and that was scary!! They cannot rule out heart failure as of now. More tests, rehab, and rest have to come in the next few months. Please say a prayer for him! He is not a "do nothing" kind of guy, and I am very worried about his mindset on not only resting but the fact that the Emory cardiologist told him he should have DIED!!
We have never in 33 years had to ask for any type of help. David has always taken care of us.
He has a long road to recovery. St. Mary's was not in our network, and that's a $75,000 bill.
We are more focused on trying to get him the care he needs, cardiac rehab, and trying our best to live with no income coming in. If you feel called to help, it would be appreciated more than you would ever know.

Thank you all for the love & support, and please keep him in your prayers. He has 4 children, 4 children-in-law, and 11 grandchildren that need him. Not to mention, he is the love of my life!

Update!!
we found out today that David has Kidney Cancer. What !! We are so shocked . We are in process of getting in with the Urology Department at Emory.
please pray for us . This is heart breaking
