Support for Dad's Stroke Recovery Journey

Donation protected
On February 4th, 2025, around 10am, my father suffered a hemorrhagic stroke while I was at work, my brother was at school, and my elderly grandma was asleep. Thankfully, first responders were called and arrived shortly after due to my dad yelling out for help during his stroke. He lost the mobility to walk and speak as the first responders rushed him away to the emergency room.

When I arrived at the ER, they informed me he had a severe stroke and a blood vessel had burst in his brain. He’d be met with two options: hopefully let his brain reabsorb the blood over time or emergency surgery to take the blockage out and reduce swelling. Ultimately, after being transferred to the ICU and taken for multiple scans and MRIs, they said it would be safer to let the blood be reabsorbed on its own. It’s been a little over 2 weeks, and we still don’t have many details.

Unfortunately, my dad is the sole provider for my little brother, my elderly grandma, and myself. He works four days a week, sometimes five. He would wake up at 3am and come back late at night, and on off days, take care and provide for us. He was always tired and sleep-deprived due to working long hours, so any warning signs were not acknowledged.

We are waiting for him to be transferred somewhere closer to our house as he is 14 miles away from us right now, but they can’t find anywhere with space, and him being in the hospital is racking up expenses. As we already have been sent a bill by the ambulance and are awaiting the bills of the care he’s received and will receive when he hopefully gets to start rehabilitation, therapy, and speech therapy. Those services which are very necessary to his recovery but unfortunately aren’t being covered by his insurance and has to come out of our own pockets. My family is struggling, but we have faith that he will get better and we can persevere.

My dad never was one to ask for help, he did everything on his own, but unfortunately his family can’t afford the care he needs to get better on our own right now. We need all the support and love we can get.
Please send my dad your prayers, as faith is helping us carry through unprecedented, unexpected times.

Remember to appreciate the blessings of health and how blessed we have it as it can change any second. Reach out to your loved ones and remind them you love them. Keep your faith no matter how hard the hardship.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out on any updates or questions on my dad.

Thank you for reading this and please share as anything one can do truly helps his children and family.
