At our 16 week scan the doctors discovered that our sweet baby girl had an abnormal heart rhythm. From there, we were sent to a specialist who discoverd Zolas heart rate was only 50 bpm. We were then sent home not knowing if our daughter would even live past a few days.
Here we are now at almost 30 weeks preparing for delivery. We are making weekly trips to Asheville and now bi-weekly trips to Charlotte until she is born. Zola has been diagnosed with complete heart block & tetralogy of fallot. She will need surgery immediately after birth. My husband will have to return to work shortly after Zola is born to care for our little boys back home while I stay in Charlotte to support & comfort my daughter in the NICU.
The cardiologist is giving Zola a 50/50 chance of life. We know we have a tough road ahead of us... but we will do anything to let our little girl thrive and live out the life she deserves.
