On Wednesday, May 15, at 1:30pm Danny had a heart attack at his job site. His heart stopped. He fell and hit his head. This caused him to have a seizure. When he fell his coworkers heard the commotion and went to see what was going on. They found Danny during the seizure. He became unresponsive. They began to give him CPR, and called the paramedics. When the paramedics arrived it took 3 shocks from the defibrillator before he had a pulse. He was down for approximately 15 minutes. He was taken to the Emergency Room at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He had another seizure in the emergency room as they were trying to get him conscious. They put him in a medically induced coma to calm the body. He was in critical condition. When the hospital started to bring him out of the coma he began to become responsive Friday morning. He has consistently been showing  small signs of improvement. The doctor called him "Miracle Man". He still needs an angiogram to assess damage to his heart and arteries. He has a long way to go, but things are looking better everyday. It is only by the grace of God, and everyone’s prayers that he is alive and with us today.

Danny is a carpenter. He does not get paid time off. If he doesn’t work then he doesn’t get paid. It is unclear how long he will be unable to work. He still needs his heart to be evaluated. He may need stints, or surgery. He will have to have extensive therapy regardless.

The family has decided to create this fundraiser to help ease his financial stress. We want Danny to focus on getting physically and mentally healthier. We don’t want Danny to lose his house, or car. We want him to have electricity, heat, and water. Most importantly we want to help with his medical bills.

Your contribution for Danny will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

5/22/19 Update

Yesterday Danny had an angiogram. He had a stent placed in his Left Anterior Descending Coronary Artery. He is no longer in the ICU and has been moved to another room. He passed the swallow test and is ecstatic that he has been cleared to eat food. He will need some physical and occupational therapy before he can be released from the hospital.

We would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support. He has a long road of rehabilitation ahead, and an amazing network to help him on his journey. He is truly blessed!

Thank You,
Michael Trahey, and the entire Trahey family.

5/20/29 Update
Danny has made progress everyday. He is awake and becoming more coherent everyday after being in a medically induced coma. He looks better. His voice is returning after having the tube down his throat. He still needs the angiogram to assess the damage to his heart. That should be done tomorrow/Tuesday. He is receiving breathing treatments every 4 hours. He is hungry and thirsty, but failed the swallow test twice so he can't have solid food or liquid until he passes that test. He is receiving nutrients through a tube in his nose. He is in the Cardiac ICU at Northwestern Memorial hospital.

In an effort to be totally transparent Go Fund me has requested that I provide the following information in this update.

1. How you are related to your beneficiary?
My name is Michael Trahey. Danny is my older brother.
2. You are withdrawing the funds in your name
Yes, The funds are being transferred to my bank account so I can make payments to his bills.
3. How exactly you will be delivering the funds to your beneficiary or using the money on their behalf?
Funds will be used to pay Danny's expenses while he is unable to work. I will be writing a check or using a debit card to make payments on his behalf. The plan is to make large payments to his monthly bills so that he is prepaid for as long as possible while he is out of work. This will ease his financial stress, and allow him to focus on his rehabilitation. Also, the portion of the medical bills that he will be responsible for after insurance is still unknown, but we know the cost will be significant.

Our entire family would like to thank everyone that has donated. He is truly blessed to be alive and to have such an amazing network of family and friends. We are over half way to the goal, and it's been 2 days.

Please donate!

Thank you,
Michael Trahey, and the entire Trahey family.
