April Coluntino Pollock

April Pollock is someone we can all look to for a snarky comment that is spot on, a delicious Italian meal that rivals the best restaurants in the North End, a genuine compliment that lifts your spirits, an offer of help without any fanfare, and excellent book recommendation. She and her husband Todd are the proud parents of two kind and accomplished boys, WIliam, who is a junior at the University of New Hampshire and Mark who is a senior at Manchester Essex Regional High School. For the last several years, April has served as a Special Ed Teaching Assistant for the Manchester Essex Regional School district. In that role, she has advocated and supported not only children under her care, but students throughout the community and they have all loved her for it.

This past summer April was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, a rare cancer that attacks soft muscle tissue. In August she underwent major surgery that successfully removed a large tumor from her brain. This fall she has had multiple follow up surgeries to remove additional growths and has also endured radiation and chemotherapy therapies to help in her battle.

Throughout all of this April has maintained a positive outlook and a determined spirit. You will not hear her complain, rather she expresses gratitude for well wishes and always reports that she is doing well.

April is the first person to offer a helping hand whether it is cooking a team meal, taking on an extra duty at work, or driving a carpool of hockey players. And she is the last person to ever ask for anything. But April and her family could use help. She was unable to return to her position at MERMS this year and her husband Todd has also missed work as he made caring for April his primary focus and has spent many days driving her to appointments and being by her side. The everyday expenses are adding up quickly and added to that is the cost of traveling to Boston for frequent medical appointments.

We are hoping the community can come together to support the Pollock family. This Go Fund Me will help the family cover some of their bills including rent, food, utilities, traveling expenses, and other necessities. So much is needed and any amount is appreciated.
