Help Us Start a Family Through IVF & Prepare for a Life-Saving Kidney Transplant
Hi, my name is Andrew, and for the past five years, my amazing wife and I have been holding onto a dream: becoming parents. We’ve celebrated many milestones together, but the one thing we’ve longed for—a child—has remained just out of reach.
Due to my kidney disease, I now do peritoneal dialysis every single day for 9 hours and 30 minutes. This life-saving treatment helps keep my body going, but it has taken a toll. One of the most difficult side effects is that I can no longer produce sperm naturally.
After consulting with a urology specialist, we were given a glimmer of hope: with a series of hormone injections, I might be able to produce sperm again. However, even with this treatment, the sperm wouldn’t be strong enough to reach an egg on their own. That means IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is our only chance to conceive.
We’ve chosen Innovative Fertility Center in Manhattan Beach, and they’ve walked us through every step. We’re hopeful and ready—but we need help covering the costs. ---
What Your Support Will Help With We’re currently fundraising for two important goals: building our family through IVF and preparing for a future kidney transplant that could save my life. ---
1. IVF Fertility Treatments Here’s a detailed breakdown of IVF-related costs at Innovative Fertility Center:
Initial testing & consultations: $2,000–$3,000
Hormone injections & egg stimulation meds: $4,000–$6,000
Egg retrieval procedure: $2,000–$3,000
Hormone injections & sperm retrieval (for me): $3,000–$5,000
ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection): $2,000–$3,000
Embryo development & transfer: $3,000–$4,000
Medications, lab fees, and follow-up care: $2,000–$3,000
Estimated IVF Total: $18,000–$26,000
--- 2. Kidney Transplant Support I’m currently working with a transplant team, and someone close to me is being evaluated as a potential living kidney donor. If approved, I will need to travel on short notice to San Diego for surgery and recovery. Most transplant centers require patients to stay nearby for monitoring for several weeks, and unfortunately, housing, travel, and many transplant-related costs are not covered by insurance.
Short-term lease/temporary housing in San Diego: $3,500–$5,000
Travel, food, and caregiving support: $2,000–$3,000
Out-of-pocket medical and medication costs: $3,000–$4,000
Estimated Kidney Transplant Costs: $10,000
--- Our Total Fundraising Goal: $35,000
Your donations will help us: Begin and complete our IVF journey Cover hormone injections and fertility procedures Secure temporary housing and transportation for the transplant Ease the financial strain from rising medical bills and travel expenses
--- We’ve waited a long time to become parents. All of my siblings have children—and while we’re filled with love for our nieces and nephews, there’s still an ache in our hearts for a child of our own. We believe that with love, faith, and your support, our dream is possible.
Thank you for reading our story, sharing it, and helping us take the next step toward family and healing. With love and gratitude,
Andrew & Ashlee Abram
