Dear Friends, Family, Supporters of Artists,
I have been singing since before I can remember doing so. I started studying singing when I was 9 years old with Juliana Kohl, who gave me the opportunity to find my joyful inner voice as well as outer voice and helped me develop my ear. When I was 12, I began classical voice training with Sharon Davis who continues as my coach and mentor when I am at home in the San Francisco Bay area. I began my college education as a vocal performance major at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, but transferred mid-sophomore year to a major in art history with a minor in Italian. I will graduate on June 4, 2016. Recently, I performed a recital of Puccini, Rossini and Moore arias, competed in the Classical Singer Magazine competition where I was selected to advance to the final rounds in Boston in May, and was accepted into the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy program to perform a role in the main stage opera Puccini's La Rondine.
My goal is to sing opera. I realize that is a lofty and demanding goal, because it involves extensive training, performing experience, and getting heard and seen by people in the business of producing operas.
So this is where you come in. The Centre for Opera Studies (Cosi as it is known) is a very prestiguous program that I would love to be able to attend. This month long program will further my vocal and theatrical
training as well as expose me to other aspects of the opera business. It will be my first experience singing a role in a fully staged opera with orchestra. This training plus my airfare will cost approximately $6,000. My parents have pledged $1,000 as my June graduation gift. My challenge is to find funds for the remaining $5,000. So I am asking for gifts, or pledges of financial support in any amount you are able to give. As my thank you, I will invite you to a recital concert to be held sometime next fall in the SF Bay Area.
My opera career is so important to me. I would so greatly appreciate any amount you are able to give.
